More on the Xbox Live Messenger service

Gamasutra has posted an interview with Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg regarding the planned Live Messenger Service for the Xbox Live system.
Here are some of the questions asked…
- Will there be any sort of charge for the ability to use the chat service? What about cross-platform use?
- So how will multi-platform live messaging actually work?
- What can you tell us about the add-on peripheral mini-keyboard controller? It looks interesting, but also looks like added weight could be a concern.
- What sorts of game experiences do you think will favor this new peripheral, as compared to just using a USB keyboard?
- Are you worried about Messenger spam? It seems like that would be particularly annoying if it popped up while watching a movie, for instance.
- Finally, will the service include filters for Messenger versus Xbox Live people?
For the Full answers please have a read of the Article… but here is a Summary.
- Xbox Messenger will be free for all users, and will be able to be used by both Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Live Silver members.
- You will be able to hold six different conversations at one time and group chat with three people at any given time. Other than that, it works just like any other IM program.
- They keyboard is "light and fits perfectly with the controller."
- The privacy options with the new Messenger will almost assuredly eliminate IM spam — something Yahoo should probably look into.
- Your Messenger Friends List and your Xbox Live Friends List are mutually exclusive. In short, they will not become one great list.
