Is this a Challenge, Calling Australian XNA Developers
Monday, July 28 2008 - xna, dream-build-play
Reading through the normal Blog posts tonight trying to catch up on what is happening and I came across this...
I’d also like to add that’s 1-nil to New Zealand. No Aussie XNA games in sight!, Sharky...
Looks like it might be time for some more Australians to step up to the plate and show us what they can do. Now as per my last post regarding a free Visual Studio MSDN Subscription, I thought of an Idea....
How about this, I have Visual Studio Team System 2008 Team Suite MSDN Premium Subscription sitting here that has been donated by Microsoft. I am willing to donate this subscription to an Aussie that can produce a complete original game, all games must be developed using the XNA Framework. In doing this the person or persons must post screen shots or video of their works so that we can see the progress as it happens.
This could also be a good chance to submit the project to this years Dream Build Play, and maybe win more than just a MSDN Subscription.

I'm a Kiwi living in Australia, would that count?
I hope I can get my awesome game playable soon.
and is that like a $10,000 prize?
P.S. Go Wallabies?
Robbie Deans is a Kiwi living in Australia.
On the remote chance Mr Deans tinkers in a bit of XNA, I vote he's definitely NOT allowed to enter!
Yes it is about $10,000+, The main reason for this is that I want to make sure that Australia can raise it's presence in the world of XNA, this way we can assist in getting the Community Games System released Down Under. So if you are thinking about my challenge start posting your progress so that the world can see what we can do.
Here here Mykre! Power to the down under I say.
Wish I could say the same of NZ. I'm the only Kiwi I know of that's sharing the XNA love. Probably a few beavering away quietly, but you'd hardly call that a community.
Give it time I suppose. Though, at some point, particularly now that money's involved, we could find less people keeping their progress out in the open like I've tried to. I hope not.
@Sharky - Even if people aren't as willing, there should be encouragement to be a bit more open about it anyway.
I was always kinda inflenced as a kid reading some of the journals published in the various C64 magazines. I'd be tempted to want to actually try to do something like that on a follow up project I've got in my head actually...
My game is still underway just been put of for a while due to Uni etc...
Probably not entirely comparable to the likes of Sharky's game but is decent :D
Hehe, thanks Paul. Only a matter of time though. :)
Air Legends has been in development since late 2006 when XNA first came out!!! (actually before, I started it in Managed DirectX before I had even heard of XNA)
I wish I could spend more time on it, but I've been very lucky with my timing so far.

Hehe. NOBODY mention the rugby!
Oh dang, did I say that out loud?
;-)
